Irsay was stopped by police when he failed to signal before turning. After failing sobriety tests he was placed under arrest. Multiple prescription drugs were found in his car after police conducted a search.
In 2002 Irsay acknowledged that after several orthopedic operations he had overcome an addiction to prescription drugs with treatment. At that time the plastic surgeon that gave him the painkillers had to surrender his permit but has since gotten it back. Both the plastic surgeon and the pharmacy where he had gotten his drugs then deny that Irsay has had anything to do with them since.
Irsay is facing four felony counts that can bring him anywhere from six months to three years jail time for each count plus a misdemeanor for driving under the influence.
