Brian Hoyer is the Browns Starting quarterback for now

There has been alot of speculation over the summer as to who would be the starting quarterback for Cleveland Browns.  All this has ended today when it was announced that Brian Hoyer will be the one and not Johnny Manziel.

Hoyer has been Tom Brady's backup from 2009 to 2011 and has learnt alot from him by perfecting his Brady style techniques.  This has definetely paid off for him today.  He gave Brady alot of credit saying that "Tom was important to my upbringing and becoming a professional quarterback."  Another thing that he learnt from Tom was to "focus on what I need to do to be the best quarterback for the team ...and avoid all the hype and the noise"  .

Hoyer has already started three games for the Browns last year so this won't be new to him when he will start on September 7 in the game against the Steelers.

Andre Yruretagoyena will replace Tyler Johnstone for Oregon Ducks

They didn't want to acknowledge it but they had to face reality.  Oregon Ducks player Tyler Johnstone will be missing alot and someone will have to replace him.  Johnstone reinjured his ACL that he tore in December and will have surgery to correct it on Friday.  His replacement will most probably be Andre Yruretagoyena.

After Johnstone's injury in December Yruretagoyena has practiced alot to be able to replace him when necessary.  That practice will definetely come in handy now that Johnstone will be out of commission for a while.
It's not something that the team has wanted to do but it doesn't look like they will have a choice.

Devon Still Talks About Daughter With Cancer

On June 2 25 year old Devon Still thought that for him football will be a distant memory.  On that day the Bengals player found out that his four year old daughter Leah has stage 4 cancer.  She was diagnosed with nueroblastoma which has about a 50 percent chance of survival rate.

Still wanted to give up football right then and their saying that "I didn't feel comfortable leaving my daughter while she is going through with this" .  This comes  right after his back surgery which he had on January 9.  However he has made the decision with his daughter's mother to bring her over to Childrens Hospital in Cincinnati where she will be treated by a top doctor in the field.  Since his daughter will be close by he has decided to rejoin the team which will support him throughout this difficult time.

Still spoke to reporters saying that it is extremely difficult for him.  He has started a campaign to help families going through this and to raise money for research.  If you would like to be a part of this you can go to www.pldgit.com/ to make your donation.

Ravens running back suspended

Ray Rice, Baltimore Ravens running back is being suspended for two games.  The suspension is because of an altercation that he had with his wife in February when they were still engaged.  At first both were charged with simple assault.  Her charges were eventually dropped however his charges were upgraded to third degree assault by a grand jury which if found guilty can land him in prison for three to five years.

The suspension means that he will be missing the games that the Ravens will be playing against the Cincinnati Bengals and the Pittsburgh Steelers.  This is not good news for the team ecspecially since they are not finished.  Rice is only one of five teammembers that were arrested this year prompting coach John Harbaugh to express his disappointment at what is going on.

Rice will be losing $470,000 in pay and be fined another $58,000.00  .  He is due back on September 12.

Florida State Football Player Arrested For Stealing Motor Scooter

On June 11 Jesus Wilson a Florida State football player saw a motor scooter next to the Love Building on the Florida State Campus and did what most people would not have done.  He took it for himself.  On June 17 he was stopped by a police while riding it.  The scooter was already damaged at that point.

According to court documents Wilson claimed that he had borrowed the scooter.  How was he going to return it and to whom? Figure it out. However the next day he admitted via email to investigators that he took the scooter when he noticed it with the keys still in the ignition.  He was planning to return and didn't plan on keeping it so long.

Florida State suspended him from the football team.  He is facing charges of theft of a motor vehicle.

Jim Browns Finds His Stolen NFL Championship Ring

Jim Browns a former NFL player was excited to receive a call from St. Paul Pioneer Press.  They had some good news and some bad news.  The good news was that they have found the ring that he received in 1964 when his team Cleveland Browns won the NFL Championship over the Baltimore Colts.  The ring was stolen shortly after  from him and he still hasn't gotten it back.  However there was a catch, it was being sold online by someone on Lelands.com.

There are already four bids for the ring and the current bid is at $33,275.00 .  The auction will run until July 25.  Browns said he will try to see if he can get the ring back.  So far Lelands.com has not said anything about the auction.
To see the ring on Lelands.com go to: http://www.lelands.com/Auction/CategoryView/3957/Spring-2014-Catalog-Auction/Sports/Jim-Brown-1964-NFL-Championship-Ring

UPDATE July 8:

They couldn't stay quiet.  Lelands.com chairman Josh Evans said today that his company received that ring legally.  Not only that, he is surprised at all that commotion since the ring was sold at a show in 1998 for $33,000.  At that time the ring was advertised and Browns was there signing autographs.  He even saw the ring and confirmed that it was his, according to Evans, yet he didn't mention anything about it being stolen.  Evans claims that they received it then from a family member. The person that bought it off then is selling the ring now.

Browns is still sticking to his original story that the ring was stolen.  He says that if Evans received the ring from a family member then it was stolen by a family member but the bottom line is that the ring was stolen.  He has every attention of getting the ring back.  Only time will tell how this will end.

Dallas Police Department Announces Arrest of Football Player That Never Happened

Believe half of what you see and nothing of what you hear is a saying that was just proven to be true.  According to an initial report by the Dallas police department Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib was in police custody for public intoxications. He was arrested and  taken to a facility after they were called to a disturbance in a club.  .

Today a spokesman for the police department corrected the information saying that it was Yaqub Talib, Aqib's older brother that was the one arrested.  The Broncos cornerback was safe at home and had absolutely  no connection to the incident.
