Judge Rejects Deal Between NFL and Former Players

U.S. District Court Judge Anita B. Brody rejected the settlement between the NFL and former football players.  She told both sides that they did not provide enough evidence that the $765 million will be enough to cover injuries for former players.

The settlement is supposed to cover the medical expenses for former players that are the result of  concussions that they suffered while playing for the NFL.  This includes about 20,000 players and if you divide the amount equally each player receives about $38,000.  This amount barely covers the basics.   In her decision she wrote that even if only 10% of the players end up needing money from the settlement "it is difficult to see how the monetary award fund would have the funds available over its lifespan to pay all claimants at these significant award levels."

Both attorneys said that they will bring more evidence showing that the deal is fair to all sides.
