Former Marine Allowed To Play In NCAA

Former Marine Steven Rhodes, 24 was discharged from the army this summer.  He sent out a video to NCAA coaches of him playing football in the army hoping to be able to play.  He was invited by Middle Tennessee State University's Blue Raider as a walk in tight end.  The NCAA quickly put a stop to it saying that he played in an organized league while in the army which is against their rules.  Rhodes claimed that it was anything but organized.  "Man, it was like intramurals for us. There were guys out there anywhere from 18 to 40-something years old," said Rhodes, chuckling and shaking his head. "The games were spread out. We once went six weeks between games." Reaction from the public was swift with social media and tweets exploding with anger over the decision of the NCAA.  Senator John McCain also tweeted that the NCAA should allow Rhodes to play football.  The NCAA quickly reversed its decision and announced that Rhodes would be able to play.  They will also be reexamining their rules so that it shouldn't happen again in the future.
