The recent wave of arrests has kept a lot of people wondering if this is what the NFL is all about. However according to statistics the percentage of arrests in the NFL is a lot smaller compared to the rest of the population. There are also a number of football players that have overcome obstacles that have stood in their way in order to reach their goal.
Two of the players that have reached their goals in spite of everything are Torry Smith and Frank Gore. Gore tore both of knees in college and had surgery on his shoulder in college yet on February 23 he played for the 49ers in the Super Bowl. Smith had to work hard as a teenager to support his mother and six siblings. His brother died right before he played against New England Patriots however he still reached his goal of playing in the Super Bowl for the Ravens.
These two players are just two examples and despite the fact that the media has talked about nothing else these past few weeks there are still great players in the NFL. The arrests are just a small minority.
